Easy and delicious Oreo chocolate truffles with an Oreo biscuit filling, coated in chocolate and incredibly moreish!

Oreo truffles

I think its becoming a bit of a weekly habit in my house to make truffles, then eat them all up far too quickly… but at least this time I had an excuse – it was for a birthday! Not that you need an excuse for these guys – they are too good to not make on more than a special occasion.

As I was going to a family gathering with ages ranging all over the the place; I wanted to create a truffle thats alcohol free, and would be a winner all around – chocolate and oreos made Oreo chocolate truffles…. and also made something deliciously yummy and addictive!

Oreos

Oreos are delicious chocolatey biscuits with a creamy centre – YUM! The addition of Oreo’s in these truffles create a crunch that is simply delicious along with the sweet and velvety chocolatey truffle centre. Nowadays, Oreos come in all different flavours such as brownie, birthday cake or even mint! They taste great on their own, with milk or my favourite at the moment is pairing them with my s’mores dip!

Decoration

You can add whatever decoration you like! I personally like to keep mine simple with a drizzle of white chocolate and some Oreo biscuit crumb for some extra crunch! You can use milk or dark chocolate as your drizzle or you can of course leave them plain – your truffles, your choice!

Storing truffles

I love to package my truffles in mini bags or boxes – but the leftovers I always keep in a jar! The truffles will last in the fridge for two weeks in an air tight container however mine never last this long! Whenever I have a girls night planned, truffles are at the top of the list – they are as good as wine!

Other truffle recipes

Truffles are always an amazing present idea and luckily, I have enough recipes on my website to cater for all tastebuds. My personal favourite for the festive season gifting are my christmas pudding chocolate truffles, peppermint truffles for an after dinner delight, carrot cake truffles for the perfect cup of tea accompaniment and then Biscoff truffles – just because they are Biscoff flavour!!

Servings: 40 truffles

Ingredients

Truffles

  • 150 g milk chocolate chips/chunks
  • 150 g dark chocolate chips/chunks
  • 300 ml double cream
  • 50 g unsalted butter
  • 154 g Oreo’s (I used one whole pack)

Decoration

  • 250 g milk chocolate
  • 50 g white chocolate
  • Oreo Crumbs

Instructions

  • Heat the double cream in a pan until it just starts to boil and then turn off the heat
  • Mix in both the milk and dark chocolate and then the unsalted butter until it is fully combined
  • Chop the Oreo’s up into very small pieces, it doesn’t have to be perfect but too big pieces might make it hard to shape the truffles
  • Mix the Oreo’s into the chocolate/cream mixture and pour it all into a container and leave in the fridge for at least 3-4 hours, or preferably overnight
  • Using a cup of hot water, shape the truffles using a melon baller or two spoons to create small rounds – I dip my melon baller into the hot water each time to clean off any excess and make it easier for the mixture to drop out
  • Place back in the fridge for a couple more hours or a quick blast in the freezer so the mixture is very cold again to prevent the truffles melting when decorating
  • Melt the chocolate for decoration and dip each truffle into it trying to keep the coating light so that not much drips off and rest on a piece of greaseproof paper
  • Drizzle on the white chocolate and leave to set
  • ENJOY!

Notes

  • Often if my truffles are misshapen I roll them in my hands so that it becomes smoother and hopefully rounder!
  • I use a dipping tool to help me with the decorating of the truffles, but you could also stick each truffle into a cocktail stick and stand them up in some polystyrene so the excess drips off itself!

ENJOY!
