Ingredients:

  • 2 heads romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup croutons
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

For the dressing:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 anchovy fillets, minced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dressing:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, and minced anchovy fillets if using.
    • Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking continuously until the dressing is well combined.
    • Season with salt and black pepper according to your taste. Set aside.
  2. Assemble the Salad:
    • In a large salad bowl, toss the chopped romaine lettuce with the prepared dressing until the leaves are evenly coated.
    • Add croutons to the dressed lettuce and toss gently to combine.
    • Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the salad.
  3. Serve:
    • Divide the Caesar salad among plates and serve immediately as an appetizer or as a side dish with your main course.
  4. Additional Tips:
    • For a twist, you can add grilled chicken, shrimp, or salmon on top to turn it into a main course salad.
    • Adjust the amount of dressing, cheese, and croutons based on your preference.
